Ferro Silicon Magnesium Alloys are master alloys of Magnesium with Iron and Silicon. They facilitate small additions of Magnesium to Iron, required to transform graphite flakes to spheroids. Magnesium-Ferro silicon Alloys with Rare Earths provide a number of distinct advantages in the nodularization of ductile iron. These include higher quality castings through improved graphite nodularity for a given magnesium addition, a reduction in the amount of alloy needed for effective nodulizing. 

It is widely used in production of SG Iron & specialty grey iron castings for the automobile industry. It can also be used in the production of carbon steel, silicon steel and stainless steel.
